    Monolith

The Builder's first experiment in using Dark Elixir for a building resulted in something truly frightful. The stronger the Monolith's target, the more damage it does. Great to have defending your Village, but a little scary to attack against.

Monolith is a single target defensive building capable of targeting ground and air troops.

Unlocked on Town Hall 15, it was added to the game with the in 2022 with the Town Hall 15 update.

    Monolith Explained

Its unique characteristic is that it deals more damage to stronger targets, making it a formidable defense in your village but a challenging obstacle when attacking.

The Monolith's damage increases proportionally to the strength of its target, making it particularly effective against troops with high hitpoints.

It's designed to single out and devastate these powerful units, ensuring a tough defense against formidable attackers.

    Range

The Monolith boasts an impressive range of 11 tiles, surpassing the range of an Archer Tower by one tile. This extensive reach allows it to target both air and ground units effectively.

However, it's worth noting that the Monolith focuses on one target at a time, emphasizing quality over quantity in its approach to defense. Its targeting system is particularly geared towards high hitpoint troops, making it a strategic asset against stronger units.

    Upgrading

The Monolith has two levels of upgrades, each requiring Dark Elixir. The upgrade cost for level 1 is 300,000 Dark Elixir over 18 days, and for level 2, it's 360,000 Dark Elixir taking 19 days.

Upgrading the Monolith enhances its defensive capabilities, increasing both its base damage and the percentage of extra damage it deals based on the target's maximum health.

At its maximum level, the Monolith can deal an additional 13% damage relative to the health of the unit it targets, making it a significant threat to high hitpoint troops.

    Tips & Tricks

    Defensive Strategy

The Monolith should be positioned near the center of your base, ideally in a separate compartment from the Town Hall. This central placement makes it difficult for attackers to reach and destroy it early in the attack. Placing a Spell Tower with an Invisibility Spell near the Monolith can provide additional protection and surprise elements for the attackers.

    Attacking Strategy

The Monolith is less effective against swarms of low hitpoint troops due to its preference for targeting high hitpoint units. Therefore, deploying a large number of smaller units can overwhelm the Monolith.

Utilizing stun units like the Battle Drill and Diggy, or employing the Freeze Spell can effectively neutralize the Monolith, providing a window for your troops to advance without taking damage from this defense.
