    Golem

The mighty Golem loves to soak up damage! When destroyed, it explodes and splits into Golemites. The resulting Golemites have one-fifth the Golem's strength and hitpoints.

Golem is a Clash of Clans troop that can be trained with Dark Elixir.

He is unlocked by upgrading the Dark Barrack to level 4, which requires a Town Hall level 8.

    Golem Explained

Golem is a melee troop that deals moderate damage, targets defenses only, and is known for its massive amount of health.

Among the Lava Hound, he is the strongest troop on the game.

He is, with Balloons and Lava Hounds, the only troop that deals damage upon death.

With a housing space of 30, Golems trigger Spring Traps but are not affected by them. However, Golemites are.

    Golem Death Ability

Similar to the Lava Hound, the Golem has a very special ability when he is killed on the battlefield: upon death, he splits into smaller Golems, called Golemites, dealing additional splash damage on a 1.5 tile radius when "explodes" into smaller Golemites.

Golemites are a smaller version of the Golem: each one has 1/5 of the health of the original Golem and also deal 1/5 of his damage.

They also target defenses only and upon death deal splash damage, although on a bit smaller radius (1.2 tiles) than the original Golem.

    How to Use Golems

Golems are commonly used as "tank" troops on ground attacks, using his huge amount of health to distract enemy defenses.

While he leads to attack taking damage from defenses, other ranged troops with high damage can safely stay behind him, causing huge destruction.

Even though Golems can be easily destroyed by single Inferno Towers, his ability to split into smaller Golemites upon death makes him a great overall troop to tank all single target defenses, even the powerful single Inferno Tower.

With a housing space of 30, most Golem attacks take only one or two units to lead the attack with other troops behind.

However, massive Golem attacks are not unheard of. Using 5 Golems can entirely block a multi Inferno Tower. With the HUGE amount of health of 5 Golems combined, it's an interesting attack.

Even though he is a great "tank" troop, he is not recommended to support Queen Walk as the Healers might lock into him and leave the Archer Queen without their support.
