Minion is a Clash of Clans troop trained with Dark Elixir.

He is the first Dark Elixir troop to be unlocked, so you only need to build the first Dark Barrack to unlock it, which requires a Town Hall level 7.

Minion Explained

Minion is a very fast, cheap, and weak ranged air troop.

He is best known for his speed and damage, considering a housing space of only 2.

It's important to know that Minions can't be used to "clear the skies" because he can't activate Seeking Air Mines. He can, however, activate Air Bombs, but this is a problem as they make splash damage and can easily kill dozens of Minions with a single bomb.

In fact, all splash damage defenses can easily kill hordes of Minions, especially the Wizard Tower.

How to Use Minions

Due to his nature of being extremely weak and having a great rate of damage/housing space, Minions are usually used to destroy non-defense buildings.

This can be done before the attack to prepare funneling (destroying buildings away from defenses), or, most commonly, being deployed after a mass attack of troops that target defenses, such as Balloons of Hog Riders.

Since Balloons are commonly used with Lava Hounds, all non-defensive buildings are left behind. Minions are usually used to destroy these buildings to prevent the attacker from running out of time.
