"These sharpshooters like to keep their distance on the battlefield and in life. Nothing makes them happier than single-mindedly taking down their target."
Archer is a Clash of Clans troop that can be trained with Elixir.
She is unlocked by upgrading a Barrack to level 2, which requires a Town Hall level 1.

Archers Explained
She is a single target unit that makes single damage.
She is the first ranged troops to be unlocked on the game, capable of hitting targets 3.5 tiles away, even over Walls.
The Archer, among with Barbarians and Goblins, uses only a single housing space, being one of the simplest troops on the game. They all are very weak, cheap, make very low damage and are commonly used by low-level players only at the beginning of the game.
How to Use Archers
The Archer is used basically by low-level players as a support troop, with the Barbarians or Giants leading the attack.
As you level up your Town Hall the enemy defenses get stronger and she can be easily killed by a single Mortar shot, becoming useless on regular attacks.
On higher Town Halls, she can be used to test spaces for traps, lure troops out of the Clan Castle, or to take down buildings outside the walls where the defenses can't reach, helping funneling.
She is also commonly used on farming formations on low and mid Town Hall levels. Since she can be trained really fast and in large numbers, you can set up a cheap army of Archers and Barbarians (Barch) within minutes and attack Inactive Bases, or loot as much as possible as long as you don't care about winning the battle.
