Poison Spell

The Poison Spell is a Dark Elixir spell unlocked when you build the Dark Spell Factory, which requires a Town Hall level 9.

This spell was introduced on the July 2015 update with the Dark Spell Factory, so it's one of the three original Dark Spells, among with the Earthquake and Haste spells.

Poison Spell Explained

The Poison Spell creates a 4 tile radius ring that decreases movement, attack speed, and deals damage to enemy troops.

This spell uses one housing space, just as all Dark Elixir spells.

The damage is progressive over time, similar to the single-target Inferno Tower. The longer the troop remains inside its radius, the bigger the damage, so stronger troops must remain inside the Poison radius for longer to get significant damage.

Stationary enemy troops run away from the spell. If you lure Clan Castle troops to the corner and use the spell, they will not remain inside. To keep the enemy troops inside the Poison radius they must be actively attacking, as they prioritize defending the village than running away from the spell.

Stacking Poison Spells

Poison Spells can be stacked and works fairly well, although this tactic is not really popular nowadays.

The damage they cause is done individually on each spell, so using 2 spells will double the damage.

Upgrade Differences

Upgrading the Poison Spell increases all stats and it's a very good upgrade.

It increases significantly the Damage per Second, Speed Decrease, and Attack Rate Decrease.

How to Use the Poison Spell

The Poison spell is used to slow down and kill enemy troops from the Clan Castle.

The scaling damage, unfortunately, doesn't work on Heroes, making it pretty much useless against them. However, the Poison Spell still slows them down.

Because of the scaling damage, always drop the spell on a way the troops will remain for a long time inside. Watch the direction the troops are going to drop the spell on their path.

Poison Spell is very effective against low health troops, such as Witches, Barbarians, Wizards, Skeletons, etc.

Bigger troops are harder to kill, but the Poison is still great against them as it slows them down. A well-placed Poison can kill Balloons.

Lava Hound is probably the only troop that this spell is not really recommended. Lavas are already slow and make almost no damage. The big problem here is the Lava Pups once the Lava explodes, so it is recommended to save this spell to use against the Pups.
